A History of our Employment Services
October is Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) - an annual awareness campaign that promotes equitable opportunity and celebrates contributions for individuals with disabilities. Manitoba Possible’s employment services started in the 1950s, mirroring the broader evolution of disability rights in the province and across the country: limited opportunity towards greater inclusion.
Evolution of the Power Wheelchair
As Manitoba Possible celebrates 75 years, we're reflecting on some of the milestones in our own programs to innovations in power wheelchair technology, and the people who made it all happen. From early advocates and engineers to dedicated team members like Mo, who has spent nearly 30 years as an electronic technician.
$130k Raised at Fuel Good Day
Thanks the incredible support of the community, Red River Co-op’s Fuel Good Day raised a record-breaking $130,000 to support Manitoba Possible’s Assistive Technology program!
Fuel up to Break Down Barriers
On Tuesday, September 16, community members can fill their tanks and fuel change at Red River Co-op's Fuel Good Day in support of Manitoba Possible. For every litre of gas pumped at all Red River Co-op Gas Bars, seven-cents will be donated — the highest amount in the fundraiser’s history — to support Manitobans with disabilities access critical assistive technology.
Financial Empowerment Through Learning and Community
When Val joined Manitoba Possible’s Saving Circle, she had never made a budget and felt overwhelmed. Eight weeks later, she left with new skills and a plan. Delivered with SEED Winnipeg and supported by United Way, the program helps Manitobans with disabilities build financial confidence, save for essentials, and make empowered money choices.
A New Home For Manitoba Possible: Coming Spring 2026
In Spring 2026, we’ll be bringing many of our programs and services to 1680 Notre Dame Avenue. The building will become a community-focused space and a model for accessibility.
