Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) in The North
Find and maintain gainful employment in Manitoba’s North.
What is VR:
Vocational Rehabilitation, also known as VR, is a combination of many services designed to ease the entrance into, or return to, work. VR assists adults living with a disability to: prepare for; obtain; and maintain gainful employment.
Who is eligible:
The Manitoba Possible VR Program is available to Manitoba residents who are:1 6+ years of age or who
have a physical and/or hearing disability
are a Canadian citizen or are legally entitled to work in Canada
are interested in enhancing their ability to pursue, maintain or retain employment
and are willing to participate in a vocational program.*
VR in The North provides services to residents of Northern Manitoba (including Thompson, Flin Flon, The Pas and more).

Services Include:
Services are unique to each client! Clients may receive some, all, or more than the following supports:
Vocational assessment where we review skills, abilities, interests and background
One on one vocational counselling for support, encouragement, and problem solving
developing a vocational plan including setting goals and identifying next steps
Support obtaining financial assistance for training and/or education
Assisting with job placement from seeking to interviewing to onboarding
Plus we offer ongoing follow up and support

After your forms and medical are received, the Intake Counsellor will contact you for an interview
After you have completed the intake process, and are deemed eligible for services, a VR Counsellor will be assigned to work with you to help you develop a vocational plan.
Eligibility
To be eligible, the applicant must meet the following eligibility conditions:
A resident of Manitoba with a physical, neurological and/or hearing disability
Have the disability substantiated in writing by:
A licensed medical practitioner in the case of a physical disability
A licensed audiologist in the case of a hearing disability
16 + years of age and no longer in the regular school system, on a sequential basis
A resident of Manitoba who is defined as "a person who makes his/her home, or is ordinarily present in Manitoba (has a Manitoba Medical Card or is registered to vote in Manitoba), but does not include a student who is a resident of another province or country and studying in Manitoba, a transient, or a visitor in Manitoba".
Is a Canadian citizen or a person legally entitled to remain and work in Canada on a permanent basis. Appropriate documents such as a Social Insurance Number (SIN) or Landed Immigrant Status must be provided to substantiate this.
If a registered member of an Indian Band in Manitoba, must have established a permanent resident off reserve in Manitoba prior to the referral or request for service.
Be assessed by a Vocational Counsellor as being able to enhance his/her ability to regularly pursue, maintain or retain employment, and be willing to participate in a vocational program.
