Searching for the Next Manitoba Possible Ambassadors

Volunteer Ambassadors play an integral role in providing lived-experience awareness on accessibility and inclusivity in Manitoba, and we’re searching for our 2021-22 Youth & Adult Ambassadors!

WHO SHOULD APPLY?  ANYONE WHO…

  • Demonstrates a passion for life.

  • Is confident in speaking in larger groups, to the media and at public events

  • Reaches for their potential every day in school or work and in the community.

  • Believes strongly in equality and a barrier-free community.

  • Is a current or past client of Manitoba Possible

  • Past Ambassadors are welcome to apply again

WHAT TO EXPECT.  KNOW YOUR ROLE…

Ambassadors will:

  • Provide lived experience awareness on accessibility

  • Represent the organization for a term of one year* in which time they will attend a number of scheduled functions during the year.

  • Visit with event participants, corporate sponsors and the general public while participating in public speaking and media interviews.

  • Attend meetings/presentations/trade shows to help raise awareness for Manitobans with disabilities and Manitoba Possible.

 SUPPORT FROM MANITOBA POSSIBLE

Manitoba Possible will:

  • Provide the Ambassador with adequate notice for scheduled appearances.

  • Provide the Ambassador with speaking notes as required by the Ambassador.

  • Provide the Ambassador with assistive technology for speeches as required.

  • Extend invitations to guest(s)/parent(s) for an Ambassador’s appearances.

  • Provide reimbursement for any expenses related to Ambassador duties such as transportation, parking costs, attendant fees, meals during events etc. As pre-approved by management.

Ambassadors will be selected based on the following criteria:

·      Belief in the Manitoba Possible vision of an inclusive and accessible society

·      Ability to communicate, whether verbally, non-verbally or through augmentative devices.

·      Comfort level interacting with individuals in a group setting.

·      Commitment and ability to appear at scheduled events.

·      Willingness to accommodate additional appearances on occasion with reasonable notice.
