Congratulations to Paul Hamm, the Manitoba winner for the 2021 Easter Seals National Volunteer Award!

Since 2019, Easter Seals Canada has highlighted and celebrated the contributions of Easter Seals volunteers across the country. This award is meant for one outstanding volunteer in each province. We are delighted to announce that the award winner for Manitoba is Paul Hamm, our very own Youth Ambassador!

“Volunteering as ambassador has been an excellent experience. I like being a part of something that brings so many people together. I like showing people that even though someone like me may have a disability that we can still make a big positive difference in society,” said Paul.

Paul was our Ambassador 2018-2020, a very important year as Manitoba Possible celebrated its 70th year by launching a new name and brand. As a spokesperson for the organization, Paul took part in public service announcements and online campaigns, demonstrating what our vision of an inclusive and accessible society means.

Paul hosted Paint the Town Possible, an awareness campaign meant to recognize local organizations, businesses and people who are leaders in accessibility and inclusivity. Paul’s impact on this campaign helped to remove barriers, which benefits not just people with disabilities but all Manitobans.  Acting as an interviewer, he demonstrated his dynamic personality and passion for accessibility, putting the interviewees at ease.

“I have become more confident in my public speaking skills,” he said.  “I have had a chance to make commercials, attend major events, share my opinions and interview others who are making a difference in our world. I enjoyed entertaining people, making them laugh and educating people on the need for awareness so that everyone has a chance to feel valued and included. “

Paul is an amazing role model for Manitoba children and youth and their families.

“Being a volunteer has given me many opportunities to meet new people and make a difference in my community. I think my disability has given me more abilities because I see the world from a perspective that others might not get to see and I want to let everyone know that just because people are different it shouldn’t hold anyone back.”

Thank you Paul for your incredible work as a Manitoba Possible Ambassador and champion for equality and accessibility.
